Well folks it's that time again...time to announce a winner! I'm going to have to apologize for disappointing all of you with the autographs I got, because not many of you actually guessed the players I got. I guess Adrian Beltre, Darren Oliver, and Matt Harrison aren't very popular guys with many of you, but I did appreciate them signing a few things for me.

With a grand total of 2 points our winner is...mmmrhubarb who correctly guessed Harrison on a Tuesday. Congratulations on winning, I'll be contacting you unless you beat me to it.

Balk 4- Important Contest Update

Well folks, unfortunately my card delivery didn't include the hobby packs that were supposed to be there for the Sac Fly (2) prize. So I went out and bought 2 value packs of 2011 Allen and Ginter and hope that you all think that is a comparable prize to all you who have entered so far.

Really sorry everyone, I guess I jumped the gun and won't be having the dealer I went through acquire me packs anymore. If anyone has an issue who has already entered feel free to email me and I'll see what I can do to make everyone happy.

Sac Fly (2) A divisional contest...

Well the Angels and Rangers may be locked in a tough race to see who will win the division, but it doesn't stop me from appreciating good baseball players. So I'm going to have a contest like Sac Fly (1) but with a little bit of a twist.

Prize:

-2 Value Packs of 2011 Allen and Ginter.

-Additional cards from my collection of your selected team.

How it works:

The Texas Rangers were in town this last home stand and I was able to get a few in person autographs of members of the team. So here's the contest: 3 different Ranger's players signed autographs for me, guess which ones signed. Each correct player is worth a point.

Now here's the twist...I got all 3 autographs on the same day despite having gone to all three games (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Guess which day I got the autographs on as an additional point to add to your score. 

Most points wins. 

The winner will be the person who gets the most points earned from their guesses. If there is a tie I will use a random number generator for all valid correct entries. If no one guesses any of the players correctly I will use a random number generator for all entries to determine the winner.

How to enter:

All you have to do to enter is comment your guess. You can leave a second guess as a valid entry if with your second entry you post a link to your own site announcing/linking this contest (2 entry max).

Contest will close Thursday July 29th at 11:59 PM PST, and the winner will be announced Friday July 30th.


Also for my regular readers, sorry for the lack of posts the past week. I just started a new job and as soon as I'm settled into my new routine I'll be sure to continue posting at a regular rate again. Though I'm not actually sure if there are any regular readers...if you're a regular reader comment that too in your entry and if you win I'll see what I can do to spice up your prize.

Sac Fly (1) Winner!

Well here's the deal. I didn't actually say if the guesses were going to count as a total score or individually. Luckily you all solved the issue for me by not a single person who entered twice repeating a name. So every person if they submitted 2 entries submitted 6 separate names with none being repeated, meaning there was a general interpretation that it was cumulative. Which is what I intended for and why the extra entry was so valuable.  The 3 players who signed for me were Grant Balfour, Brad Ziegler, and Gio Gonzalez. Meaning the winner was the lone person who correctly named 2 players in their guesses was.........Matt of Tenets of Wilson! So congrats Matt you're the winner of my first ever contest meaning the odds are high I send you an additional slightly meaningless prize with your main prize.  For everyone else...you're all awsome and I enjoyed your guesses. I'll be hosting additional contests soon so keep an eye out.

As an additional note, Gio signed 2 cards for me and Ziegler signed a ball for me with someone else's gel pen (shudder) that immediately smeared and then resigned in my pen since I asked nicely at the end of his signing when he saw the awful smear on the original signature. He actually looked at the ball and said "gross I totally understand don't worry" (yay young pitchers) when I asked him to sign again while showing the horrendous smear. So I got 3 players but 5 signatures, which is why I said I had to repay the great karma I had by hosting a contest since Zeigler and Gio were so nice to me.

Sac Fly (1) The first contest...

Well seeing as I've been able to have a little bit of luck pulling cards this week and in person at the stadium I think it's time to spread some of the luck and host my first contest.  I'll get more complicated and random fun with my contests as you can tell by this one.

The first contest I'll admit is a little self serving. For only having the blog up for about a month I've gotten a fair number of hits and am glad people have found interest in the stuff I'm putting up. So to continue working my way into this great community I need the word spread about what I'm doing on this blog. So here's the prize and the rules:

Prize:
-2 unopened packs of Topps Heritage 2011 OR Gypsy Queen OR 1 of each. Winner's choice.
-Additional cards from my collection of your selected team.

How it works:
The Oakland A's were in town this last home stand and I was able to get a few in person autographs of members of the team. So here's the contest 3 different A's players signed autographs for me. Guess who I was able to get and you win the prize. Also in your guess leave which packs you would prefer if you win.

The winner will be the person who gets the most players guessed correctly. If there is a tie I will use a random number generator for all valid correct entries. If no one guesses any of the players correctly I will use a random number generator for all entries to determine the winner.
